Peraton Celebrates Employee Impact at Chairman’s Awards

Peraton’s Chairman’s Awards celebrate the drive and audacity needed to push beyond the possible and tackle our toughest national security challenges. The awards program recognizes exceptional individuals across the company who consistently push beyond the comfort zone to achieve new levels of innovation.

Established in 2020 by chairman, president and CEO Stu Shea, the second installment of the Chairman’s Awards was postponed until 2022 while the company focused on integrating two substantial acquisitions and welcoming nearly 15,000 new employees, emerging as a $7 billion industry leader in national security.

On March 4, 2022, Peraton employees spanning the globe gathered online for a virtual awards ceremony that recognized and celebrated outstanding accomplishments across the company. This year’s more than 400 submissions fell into six categories: business growth, mission success, technical innovations, leadership, teamwork, and business efficiency.

In total, 58 awards were distributed to individuals and members of small teams in recognition of their contributions to a program, contract, or solution that yielded exemplary results, focused on core business outcomes, and profoundly impacted the business in an innovative and significant way.

“The Chairman’s Awards is a way of highlighting and celebrating those who have gone above and beyond,” said Shea. “They act as a way of seeing what’s going on around Peraton, the missions of consequence we support, and the way each of us is positively impacting the world. I hope people leave tonight seeing themselves as part of the whole and understand the value of their contributions.”

What sets the award process apart is that both individuals and teams can be nominated, and teams can be pulled from multiple departments outside of the organizational chart to form a single nomination. This means a graphic designer, IT specialist, communications lead, technician, and engineer who came together on a unique project can be recognized for the impact of their work.

“The strength of a team comes from its members. And the strength of the members comes from a team,” John Reing, chief human resources officer, told attendees. “The Chairman’s Awards demonstrates what a team can accomplish when everyone works together to achieve something bigger than themselves.”

Chairman’s Awards winners were recognized for accomplishments including:

  • Helping secure the largest and most important piece of new business Peraton has ever been awarded. This team turned around a previously low performing account to secure a multi-billion-dollar takeaway from a competitor and raised the standard for new business pursuits.
  • Supporting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) response to the 2020 escalation of COVID-19. These awardees deployed cloud-based solutions to track vaccine production, shipment, and administration and increased the turnaround time on the CDC’s website.
  • Creating and launching a mobile solution to help the U.S. Army and other customers in the civilian and defense markets enable advanced training and metrics at the user’s fingertips.
  • Integrating 9,000 employee files and content over a single weekend as part of Peraton’s migration to a higher security government-approved cloud solution. The team executed a complex technology change with minimal business disruption.
