Dean Bellamy, Peraton’s senior director of space strategies and development, is a National Intelligence Exceptional Achievement Medal recipient. Awarded by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence in recognition of significant service to the U.S. Intelligence Community (IC) and nation, this high honor was bestowed on Dean for outstanding contributions while serving as a Colonel with the U.S. Air Force.
“It was a team effort – we had to break down a lot of walls and work together. We had to prove that unity of effort will work.”
Dean led a strategic guidance effort designed to replace outdated mission and program protection practices. The revamped 21st century strategy engages a managed risk approach to protecting space assets in the era of ever-evolving threats. Leading a team comprised of more than 25 U.S. government organizations, Dean was challenged with guiding development of the new strategy while building consensus across diverse operations. According to Dean, “It was a team effort – we had to break down a lot of walls and work together. We had to prove that unity of effort will work.”
The resulting benefits of Dean’s and his team’s efforts are already being realized today with National Security Space capability operators aligning efforts to advance space operations across the IC, the Department of Defense, other government organizations, and allied nations.
Dean’s selection for this prestigious award is reflective of his dedication to the IC and our nation – and we at Peraton are glad to have him on the team.
