IM-1 is part of NASA’s Commercial Lunar Payload Services (CLPS) initiative with goal of studying lunar surface from the South Pole of the Moon in preparation for Artemis mission.
Peraton provided critical radiometric, telemetric, and commanding support to ensure seamless mission assurance as NASA JPL’s partner in operating the Deep Space Network.
“This launch underscores the exponential value of what happens when industry and government combine strengths,” said Roger Mason, Ph.D., president, Space & Intelligence sector, Peraton. “As NASA continues to explore the final frontier, Peraton will remain steadfast in its commitment to align deep industry expertise with innovative technologies in support of space missions across the galaxy.”
Peraton also provided cybersecurity support to mitigate system vulnerabilities, reduce the likelihood of exploitation, and safeguard the mission from potential breaches. The team collaborated closely with the mission staff to monitor various sensors during the IM-1 mission.
“This collaboration aided in the real-time detection and prevention of malicious activities by adversaries seeking to disrupt the mission to the moon,” said Tom Afferton, president, Cyber Mission sector, Peraton. “By protecting the mission from cybersecurity threats, the team helped safeguard this significant milestone of space exploration.”
