On September 10, the Department of Defense was selected as a winner of the 2024 Service to the Citizen Award for the the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC)-led project team for the successful launch of an online U.S. identification (USID) card renewal application project.
Peraton’s Defense Mission and Health Solutions sector supports the DMDC team in improving access to DoD Identification (ID) cards for service members, retirees, and their families.
Service members and their families use USID cards to gain access to DoD facilities and privileges, such as health benefits, TSA precheck, and discount programs. The new system enables sponsors to submit renewal requests online, which saves time and effort. Since February 2023, more than 125,000 USID card holders have logged on to the new web-based application to renew their cards.
The Service to the Citizen award recognizes those public servants and industry partners who demonstrate excellence in delivering services that impact the lives of citizens and help to rebuild trust in the U.S. government. “Peraton is very proud of the team that delivered this capability to our DoD families,” said Andy Estep, Peraton’s project manager for the DMDC contract. “The Service to the Citizen award is well deserved. Any time we can improve the lives of our defense personnel and their families is a worthwhile endeavor.”
